Take A Hike On The Longest Recreational Trail In The World

Ever wonder what it would be like to walk or hike all of Canada’s 10 provinces and three territories?  Well now you can but make sure you take some time off work.  The Great Trail is 24,000 kilometres (over 14,900 miles) long and spans coast (Atlantic) to coast (Pacific) to coast (Arctic).  Twenty-five years in the making, the Great Trail has to be one of the most memorable ways to explore Canada’s communities and nature.

Formerly known as the Trans Canada Trail, the Great Trail is the longest recreational trail in the world and takes you through Canada’s amazing wilderness, waterways, prairies and mountains, as well as its incredible urban and rural landscapes.  The name Trans Canada Trail applies to the federally registered charity that oversees the Great Trail.

The Great Trail is a community-based project. Trail sections are owned, operated and maintained by local organizations, provincial authorities, national agencies and municipalities across Canada. Find out more by clicking on one of the links above. Learn more fun facts about Canada here.
