Outdoor Theatre Thrives in Armstrong Spallumcheen

If you are traveling across southern British Columbia (BC) this August, you’ll want to stop in Armstrong and the Township of Spallumcheen to catch the unique and highly entertaining Caravan Farm Theatre.  The professional outdoor theatre company and registered charity performs its productions on an 80 acre farm 11 kilometres (7 miles) northwest of the City of Armstrong.

Since 1978, the performers have been staging plays everywhere except a stage.  Productions have covered farm fields, pine forests, as well as the barn and the equestrian ring.  In addition to original works that explore political and social issues, the theatre company has performed classics like Shakespeare and Brecht.

This August, don’t miss Caravan Farm Theatre’s Law of the Land, a fast-paced musical farce about energy projects, set in a fictional BC town – a place where cowboys fall in love with environmentalists, crows wax philosophical, and the animals put man on trial. The play features the company’s trademark blend of mask, music, physical comedy, and political satire.
