Indigenous Cuisine is Coming to a Restaurant Near You

Have you ever had Indigenous cuisine from Canada?  Check out this great article by Canadian Press journalist Alexsandra Sagan highlighting the growth in restaurants, eateries and food trucks featuring traditional and culturally-relevant food from Canada’s First Peoples (commonly referred to as “native” or “aboriginal” people).

The Indigenous cuisine food scene is growing in many Canadian cities, including Vancouver, Winnipeg and TorontoRed River College in Winnipeg offers a Culinary Skills Indigenous program designed to prepare students to work in the culinary industry. It combines both fundamental culinary skills and knowledge with basic business skills.

If you haven’t had bannock, bison, salmon or other traditional fare prepared with respect for one of the many First Nations cultures across Canada you are missing out on a delicious experience.
