Canada Ranks Among Least Corrupt Countries in the World

Canada remains among the top ten least corrupt countries in the world according to Transparency International.  Founded in 1993, the organizations Secretariat is based out of Berlin and provides leadership for the movement’s international initiatives, supports over 100 chapters worldwide and coordinates its regional work through knowledge sharing, advocacy and coalition building.

Based on expert opinion, the Corruption Perceptions Index measures the perceived levels of public sector corruption worldwide.  The scale of the issue is huge. Sixty-eight per cent of countries worldwide have a serious corruption problem. Half of the G20 are among them. 

Canada ranked 9th out of 168 countries with a score of 83, which is only eight points behind global leading Denmark.  In contrast, the United States ranked 16th with 76 points.  The full results are available at http://www.transparency.org/cpi2015.
