British Columbia Small Cities and Towns Score Big on Trivago Rankings

February 12, 2017

British Columbia’s rural towns dominated the Trivago Best Value index list for Canada this year, claiming five of the top 10 spots. The index ranks small cities and towns that combine great value for money with hospitality and vacation fun.

The index revealed that Hope and Smithers secured the third and fourth spots.  Quesnel and Port Alberni were in the seventh and eighth spot and Prince Rupert rounded out the top ten.

According to the company, the Trivago Best Value Index ranks cities based on a combination of consumer ratings and average hotel prices with 100% being the top score. It provides a unique overview of the best valued destinations by using a specifically tailored algorithm that combines the Trivago Hotel Price Index with Trivago’s Reputation Ranking for hotels.

Only destinations with at least 50 hotels and a minimum average of 150 user ratings per hotel were considered in this index, however the 2017 Best Value Small Town list indicates only those cities or towns with fewer than 50 hotels in total.
