Amazon Grows its Business in Ottawa

Retail giant Amazon continues its Canadian love affair with its recent announcement of a new warehouse and distribution centre in Ottawa, Canada’s national capital.  The facility is expected to create an estimated 600 jobs with Amazon and an additional 1500 jobs in the local economy. Unlike the previous seven distribution facilities located across Canada, Amazon’s Ottawa location will handle larger items such as furniture, sports equipment and gardening tools.

Over 1.3 million people call Ottawa and the National Capital Region home.  It is one of the most educated cities in the world and its diverse economy includes a large, innovative and globally competitive technology sector.  The presence of over one hundred foreign embassies and consulates adds to Ottawa’s already rich multicultural environment.

This beautiful city is located on Ontario’s border with Quebec, separated by the Ottawa River and divided by the historic Rideau Canal, a National Historic Site of Canada, a Canadian Heritage River and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  With over 200 kilometres of waterways leading to Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, the section of the canal that runs through Ottawa becomes the world’s longest skating rink in the winter.

Amazon’s employees will have an abundance of fun things to do through Ottawa’s distinct four seasons.
